Speed Limited Signs

  Avariable speed limited Signs may be applied on a motorway , longbridge or in a tunnel to allow a reduction in the posted speedlimit at times when road safety and performance are compromised ,and where full-time lower static speed limits are inappropriate .The variable speed limit zone is implemented through the use ofvariable speed limit signs and selected static signs . The mainobjectives of a variable speed limited signs are to control theposted speed limit within the signs to :

 ·  minimize the potential risk of injury to thepublic and emergency personnel at incidents or workers duringmaintenance/construction by reducing the speed limit approachingand passing through the site ;

 ·  manage safety during poor weather of roadconditions by reducing the speed limit to an appropriate speed forthe prevailing conditions .
